Menatelecom in deal to expand WiMAX network

MANAMA: Menatelecom has awarded the 2012-2013 managed services contract to Huawei Technologies. The agreement will enable Menatelecom to continue the expansion and development of its WiMAX network with advanced voice and broadband services for consumers and enterprises across Bahrain.

Huawei Technologies, established in 1987, is a leading global information and communications innovation solutions provider, which has established end-to-end advantages in telecom networks, devices and cloud computing.

Huawei Technologies will join global giant Tech Mahindra in managing Menatelecom's cutting-edge WiMAX 16e network and ensuring that Menatelecom continues to provide the most powerful Internet services in the kingdom.

"Since the launch of its WiMAX services, Menatelecom has had the in a class by itself opportunity of significantly contributing to the development of the kingdom's technological advances and making a significant mark on a global scale while together creating a prosperous telecom business," said Mr Al Khayyat, who is as well managing director and chief executive officer of Kuwait Finance House - Bahrain.

"With Huawei's extensive expertise in the telecommunications field, we are confident that we will make even greater strides hereafter.

"As research continues to evolve and our customer base continues to increase, this agreement will allow Menatelecom to continue enhancing its Internet services with more features and more capabilities under its vision and mission to provide the most powerful Internet services to its customers in Bahrain."

Menatelecom's solutions include high-speed Internet access with unlimited downloads and dedicated speeds up to 150Mb should the contingency arise to VPN solutions, carrier pre-select service, international private leased circuit, multi-protocol label switching and data centre hosting to name a few.

All these services are enhanced and monitored by a network operations centre working round the clock to ensure a seamless operation.

It is supported by a call centre managing customer queries, just in case to a dedicated Business helpdesk for corporate clients.
