Sangoma Technologies Corporation /quotes/zigman/258952 CA:STC +1.01% , a leadingprovider of hardware and software elements that enable or enhanceIP Communications Systems for both voice and data, today announcedthe first commercial shipment of the two newest models in its VegaAppliance Series commenced April 20, 2012. The new Vega 100 and Vega200 provide the core feature set supported throughout thehighly-regarded Vega Series of gateways scaled for small- andmedium-sized businesses. These appliances which support one ortwo spans of digital telephony, are sized to match withthe TDM-to-IP connectivity needs of smaller enterprises, priced tofit within SMB budgets, and packed with enterprise-classcommunications features that will give these smaller businesses acompetitive edge.
"We are excited to be among the first to receive these versatile newVega Series units from Sangoma as we have seen quite a bit of demandfrom SMB clients for the types of features that these models makeavailable," said Darren Garland, managing director of ProVu, AUK-based VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) research provider. "Businesses of every size need theenterprise-class capabilities, including local survivability andredundancy to protect mission-critical communication channels, offered in these smaller models of the Vega Series. Plus, the pricepositioning of the Vega 100 and Vega 200 is perfect for the SMBmarket."
Higher density models in the Vega Appliance Series have beensuccessfully deployed by service providers as customer premisedevices terminating SIP Trunks and providing PSTN access for IP-PBX (Private -Automatic- Branch Exchange)platforms for a number of years. The Vega 100 and Vega 200 expand thescope of businesses that can be cost-effectively served using VegaAppliances to include those that experience lower call volume or thatrequire fewer simultaneous SIP sessions. The rack-mountable 1u Vega100 and 200 chassis deliver up to 30 and 60 simultaneous calls or SIPsessions, respectively. The devices support a broad range of audiocodecs, T.38 fax, integrated call routing and dial-planadministration, as so then as a variety of maintenance and survivabilityfeatures that deliver easy-to-use resilience in a system sized forthe SMB market.
Bypass configurability of the digital spans enables dual-chassisredundant operation if desired, and an option to connect directly toPSTN trunks for emergency calling is available when all is said and done of an IPnetwork failure. High-performance features just as these not only setthe entire Vega series apart from other gateway devices, however the Vega100 and Vega 200 are the only gateway appliances in the market thatoffer emergency failover/fallback to the PSTN in devices with theappropriate capacity to effectively address SMB needs.
