Overall Voice Core Market Expected to Decline

Telecom service provider spending on core voice research is expected to decline by a small amount over the then and there five years, a survey by the Dell’Oro group finds.

Spending on standard circuit switching voice research is expected to decline by 10 percent by 2016. Just in case the compound annual growth rate on spending on equipment for switching for circuit switched networks to VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) is expected to decline by around eight percent.

The other hand

On the other hand, software-only VoIP solutions are expected to grow by 19 percent. Much of the growth is anticipated in Voice Application Servers, Session Border Controllers and IP Multimedia Subsystems.

Improvements in telecom research over the straightway five years will make such growth possible, including SIP trunking and VoiceoverLTE. The standard is expected to replace the current GSM standard for mobile communication, even though GSM will likely persist for some time as carriers and networks switch over to LTE, as well known as 3GPP Long Term Evolution. One major difference between the two standards is the VoLTE use packet switching exclusively, as opposed to the circuit-switched GSM standard.

"This year, we expect to see commercial launches of VoLTE services in North America. The underlying VoLTE infrastructure is unparalleled from prior generations of wireless voice core equipment because it is software-based," Chris DePuy, Analyst at Dell'Oro Group said. "As the large installed base of wireless users by degree transitions towards VoLTE, it should cause a shift in wireless voice spending towards VAS, SBC and IMS systems -- a trend already underway in wireline networks."
